<p>Social listening/Social Monitoring is the process of using online tools to find out who is posting information about you, your industry and your areas of interest. The tools I recommend to get started at this are Google Home Page, Google Reader, Google Alerts and Nutshell by Constant Contact. Each tool is easy to use and will update you via email and online dashboard when someone talking about you, your business and your marketplace. As you get more advanced in Social Monitoring there are paid solutions that are even more thorough in scouring the web.</p>
<p>Google Home Page (igoogle) is an online dash board which includes all your areas of local and national interest in one place. You can add as many gadgets ad you would like. A gadget is a feed of information from almost infinite. Some sources include : local weather, Google alerts/Reader, CNN, Gmail, your Online calendar and the list goes on and on.</p>
